Hybrid Modeling for Solutions of Sediment Deposition in a Low-Land Reservoir with Multigate Sluice Structure

At the multigate sluice structure on a fluvial river, undesired sediment deposition affects normal operation of reservoir in question. Physical and numerical models are hybridized to help explore flow sedimentation patterns. Field laboratory investigations show that is attributable formation large recirculation zones at low medium discharges. As potential countermeasure, an array guide vanes recommended cope with concern. Their attack angle dominant parameter needs be evaluated. Tests fixed-bed model demonstrate bend towards suppress circulation along both banks. The favorable range 15–20°. With examination bed suspended loads, modeling indicates sediment-removal efficiency increases increase angle. By weighing flushing risk local scouring vanes, 15° vane layout recommended. This study expected provide reference for guide-vane design similar situations.
